Take an elevator with its own built-in waterfall and emerge into an exotic rooftop bar to see and be seen or even get into bed — the lounge-style leather beds can accommodate 1 or 20 of your special friends. The vibe is laid-back-luxe and you can munch on mini trays of sushi, empanadas and sliders to accompany a passion fruit martini, or perhaps a Peach Me Now, a mix of Grey Goose vodka, peach schnapps and peach syrup. The roof deck bar is a great place to chill and take in the awesome views earlier in the evening and before a night out on the town. The aesthetics are very Miami- Delano-like in fact. Comfy white leather lounge beds line up along the balcony and every seat has a great view of the Isla Verde coastline/skyline.
We ordered champagne and dined on sushi while the gay men in the group flirted with the hot waitress, getting the full scoop on the dog- like behavior of the Puerto Rican men (leaving us to explore the confusing quandary: why are the women sickeningly beautiful, sexy, and friendly and the men such chumps?) I have yet to figure it out.
This place is very Miami and almost made me feel guilty, or that somehow I wasn’t experiencing the real culture of PR. I recommend this place, the Oyster bar, Lupis and the El San Juan Hotel if you’re staying in Isla Verde for at least one night, but DEF get out to the restaurants, bars and clubs on Calle Fortaleza in Old San Juan for a more authentic San Juan nightlife experience.
And… the importance of getting out of San Juan to explore this beautiful island goes without saying. You will be robbing yourself of a true Puerto Rico experience if you stay in San Juan the whole time.
